Grill’d Carindale love to give back to the local communities. Every month Grill’d will donate $300 to the local community you have selected. Grilled Carindale is located on the ground floor of Westfield Carindale, opposite Coles. It is open from 10.30 am to 10.00 pm seven days a week.

With each  purchase everyone receives a token to place in one of the 3 charity jars.  Quota Carindale was one of the charity jars this month!  The jar with the most tokens at the end of the month wins $300.

Quota Carindale came 2nd? Thank you to everyone that popped a token in the jar.

Quota International has a yearly convention and is hosted world wide.
This year everyone will be heading to Australia.
At every convention a Service-on-Site project is planned and this year, Quotarians will help to provide Sound Beginnings for Children in South East Queensland. Quota International is partnering with the Combined Women’s Refuge Group to support women’s shelters for women and children victims of domestic violence. Two representatives from Combined Women’s Refuge Group will attend on Sunday morning at general session to receive Quota’s “Buckets of Love” and tell us a little of their work.

These buckets have been filled with items such as light women’s night wear, children’s pyjamas, children’s books, games and puzzles. Quota Carindale felt they would make their bucket a little bit extra special by hand painting it.

Let’s all help to make our “Buckets of Love” a project that will empower women and children at a time in their lives when support is needed most.

The invite just went out yesterday and 4 people responded. Zena had her studio set up and each person was shown how to make a card. One of the ladies had never made a card in her life before and she only took a few minutes to master it and looked like she had been crafting for years.

 

We even had beautiful hand made envelopes, donated by one of our Paper Angel friends. Thanks Liz Collett they looked beautiful.

Zena had set up 3 stations, each station had a different card. The ladies made a few each of the cards at each station and then moved to the next one.

During our charity event last weekend one of the ladies at Zena’s table suggested that we should get together and make cards for the North Queensland Rural Family Support Services, as this was possibly another way we could help.
We want to run with this idea and Zena has offered her studio to run these card making sessions. She has a few days and evenings planned. If you are keen to make some cards, then get in touch with her. You don’t have to be creative, as you will be guided every step of the way. Come join us!!

We are very fortunate to come across this wonderful group of women who call themselves the Paper Angels. They are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and part of their mission statement is “…To make a Difference” They certainly do that for us year after year. This year was no exception.

Last Monday we spent the day enjoying the company and creativity of 40 ladies, creating cards and forming new friendships. With all proceeds going to North Queensland Rural Family Support Services.

 The home office of Stampin’ Up! are very generous. For each of our charity events with The Paper Angels they have donated wonderful raffle prizes.

 

   

The day went from 10am to 4pm. Lunch was included and prepared by Gemma, who just happens to be Rebecca’s sister, it was delicious and was only over shadowed by the afternoon tea which was soooo yummy.

For this event, once again we made a substantial amount of money from the raffle. All Funds raised by Quota Carindale go directly to Jeanie from North Queensland Rural Family Support Services who purchases her requirements from businesses within her area and in this way support is given to local communities as well as people on the land.

Once again Quota Carindale’s fund raising was supported by a Paper Angels Charity Cardmaking Day. What a successful event this was.

 

The beneficiary of this event is North Queensland Rural Family Support Services who operate out of Charters Towers and service the Charters Towers Regional Council’s Rural/Remote Region, Flinders, Richmond & McKinlay Shire Council areas. Their Co-ordinator Jeanie Brooks has been working with families on the land for more than 30 years. Two Quota Carindale members, Janette and Lyn were able to meet with Jeanie on their travels through North West Queensland in 2015. They had discussions with Jeanie and felt the work she was doing fitted well with Quota’s ideals of supporting disadvantaged women and children and because of the severity of the drought in this region their need was dire. Here, the family focus is on survival with the resulting neglect of both mental and physical health. Children are taken out of boarding school and socialising becomes infrequent as fuel is only available for necessities.

On 26 August 2016, North QLD Rural Services will be co-hosting with the Royal Flying Doctor Service a day on “Barenya Station” south west of Hughenden. The RFDS does health checks while Jeanie arranges a pamper day along with fitness and stretching sessions for both adults and children. From Quota Carindale’s donations, Jeanie has enlisted the services of a Charters Towers fitness professional to travel to “Barenya Station” to provide physical health and well being tips and classes as those attending the day have no personal access to these services without first driving hundreds of kilometres.

Funds raised by Quota Carindale go directly to Jeanie who purchases her requirements from businesses within her area and in this way support is given to local communities as well as people on the land. So how can you help Quota Carindale?

Quota Carindale is one of the charity jars at Grilled Carindale this month!  When you make a purchase you should receive a token, if you don’t please ask for your token as sometimes they are quite busy and may forget. Place the token in the jar of your choice, (Quota Carindale please)there are usually three jars to choose from and the jar with the most tokens at the end of the month wins $300.

One of our ladies went in and was given a token, when she asked for extra tokens, they were happy to give them to her, it is worth the ask. So come on everyone, the food is good and the more we purchase during April the more tokens we get to put in our jar. Please pass this on to everyone you know, we all have to eat. Tasty fundraising!
